Oxford teenager Nathan Harrison has signed for a renowned talent-spotter in his bid to graduate full-time from the karting ranks.

The 16-year old, from Botley, who took multiple championship titles on his way up the karting ladder, completed a part-season in the Ginetta Junior Championship last year.

He became the first rookie to qualify on the front row, but ended his campaign back in karts after being forced to withdraw due to a cash shortage.

Harrison went on to post a top-ten finish in the RGMMC International Open in November.

Now he has signed a contract with Rick Gorne and the Mango Sports Management operation that will allow him to develop his skills while looking for the opportunity to step up in 2014.

“This is something we have been working on for months,” Harrison admitted.

“After the disappointment of last year, we knew that it was important to look further down the road and do whatever was needed to ensure that the next step was the right one.

“Rick and Mango have an excellent reputation for working with young drivers, and we are confident that the plan we have put in place is the best strategy for the future.”

DIDCOT karter Elliot Harvey secured an excellent second place on his debut in the Minimax class at Forest Edge.

After three qualifying heats, the 11-year-old started the final second on the grid, but was unable to catch the leader.
