Horspath Hammers have world champion Lukas Nowacki back on board when the BCTG Elite League champions begin the defence of their title at home to Wednesfield Aces tomorrow (2pm).
Nowacki returns for his second spell after moving back from Leicester, whom he joined three years ago from Horspath.
Also joining him is Welsh international Jack Harrold, who comes on a secondary licence from Newport.
However, they will be without Steve Harris, who has joined Poole after a ten-year stint at Horspath, while Lewis and Chris Osborne have transfered to their local club, Ipswich, after eight years at Hammers.
The team, led by rider-manager Mark Boaler, face a tough challenge to repeat last season’s success, which also bought them the British Team and British Open Fours titles.
Horspath face a Wednesfield side boasting Europe No 2 rider Paul Heard, four-time British champion Lee Aris and top Great Britain international Ben Mould.
Meanwhile, Dave Carmichael starts his comeback from a pre-season injury in the second string, who are defending their Elite Combination title.
