LONDON Welsh head coach Lyn Jones accepts they will need to win all three of their remaining games if are to stay in the Aviva Premiership.

The Exiles host Northampton at Oxford’s Kassam Stadium on Sunday (3pm) knowing they may need to win to have any chance of avoiding relegation.

Should rivals Sale Sharks beat Gloucester tomorrow night, Welsh will enter the match at least 12 points adrift, with a maximum of 15 to play for.

Asked if Welsh required victories over Northampton, London Irish (April 20) and Worcester Warriors (May 4) to beat the drop, Jones replied: “Definitely. We are going to need to win all three.”

Welsh have not won a league game since beating London Irish on December 1, so the odds are against them.

But Jones stressed: “The players are relaxed and focused and looking forward to Sunday.

“We know that time is running short, but we are still having a good time.

“It would be very disappointing if we don’t achieve our goal of staying up, but we are really going for it.”

Jones added: “Motivation is not an issue. We have goals which we use to motivate ourselves and we are up for it.

“We need to keep fighting.”

Welsh are hoping for a large home crowd, having promoted the match as their Family Day.

“We have not played at home for quite a while and the crowd does make a difference,” said Jones.

“We have had some positive results at home and also some close matches.

“If people come out and watch us, they will see some top rugby.

“And Northampton are a very good side with plenty of England internationals.”

These include Courtney Laws, Ben Foden and Dylan Hartley.

Whichever league Welsh play in next year, they will not have back-row forward Lee Beach in their ranks.

Beach, 30, announced yesterday that he will retire from professional rugby at the end of the season.
