Bradford Park Ave 1
(Corner 81)
Oxford City 2
(Stanley 14, Willmott 62)
Oxford City recorded succcessive wins in Blue Square Bet North with victory at Bradford Park Avenue – despite having skipper Andy Ballard sent off in the first half.
Fresh from their 2-1 win at Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday, City repeated the feat.
But this time their ten men had to dig deep with a sterling performance.
There was an early scare for the hosts when an Adam Clayton back pass eluded his own keeper, John Lamb, and went out for a corner.
Bradford’s Danny Holland curled a shot wide, before City went ahead after 14 minutes.
Mark Bell delivered a free-kick into the area for Nick Stanley to fire home through a crowded goalmouth.
However, City went down to ten men on 25 minutes when Andy Ballard was shown a red card for a tackle from behind.
City keeper Nick Townsend did well to cut out Paul Walker’s cross before the break.
In the second half, Bradford’s Michael Duckworth shot wide from distance, before Holland headed tamely at Townsend.
City doubled their lead in the 62nd minute when Bell’s free-kick found Josh Mulvany, who crossed for Willmott to score.
Tom Corner pulled a goal back for Bradford on 81 minutes, but City held on.
