LIAM O’Neill and Xavier Andre both scored hat-tricks as Henley Hawks maintained their promotion push with a 65-19 home demolition of Redruth.

Victory took Henley past 100 league points for the season and leaves them seven behind leaders Worthing with a game in hand.

Fly half Will Robinson kicked Hawks ahead with a second-minute penalty, but it took them 14 minutes to register a try.

Full back O’Neill grabbed the first of his treble after a break from left wing Richard Briggs.

Robinson converted this and right wing Andre’s opener, which showcased his pace.

Flanker Matt Payne bagged try No 3 after Robinson’s break, with the latter converting for a 24-0 half-time lead.

Skipper Martin Nutt created a second for Andre just three minutes into the second half, Robinson converting.

O’Neill broke from halfway to set up a try for scrum half Luke Carter.

The onslaught continued, with Briggs on target plus O’Neill (2) and Andre completing their hat-tricks.

Robinson converted two to take the score to 60-0.

Hawks lost their rhythm, allowing Redruth to hit back with tries from replacement flanker Neil Broadbank, full back Tom Hotman, and, on the final whistle, Ashley Hoskins, who converted two.

In between, Payne bagged his second from a driving maul.

Chinnor were undone by a late try in a pulsating 36-35 defeat at Southend.

The visitors emerged with two bonus points, but had led 21-6, 28-16 and 35-26. Full back Rob Kirby slotted two penalties for Southend, either side of a try from Chinnor centre Sam Stoop, converted by fly half Sam Angell.

Chinnor twice burst through some poor tackling to add tries from wing Tom Gray and full back Matt Mountford, Angell converting both.

Kirby replied with a solo try that he converted himself, while his third penalty made it 21-16 at half-time.

Southend lock Alan Barker was sin-binned for a high tackle and Chinnor capitalised with No 8 Liam Gilbert driving over and Angell converting.

The hosts reduced the arrears to 28-26 with 20 minutes to go, thanks to a Kirby penalty and his conversion of wing Danny Cleare’s try.

Flanker Chris Green was yellow-carded for tackling Chinnor’s Gilbert without the ball just yards short of the line, leading to a penalty try, which Angell converted.

Centre Chris Vaughan won the chase to touch down Southend’s third try on 68 minutes before flanker Harry Hudson was driven over for the winner.
