FRILFORD HEATH junior Eddie Pepperell has been named in the England Under 18 squad after some excellent display in 2006.
The 15-year-old, from Abingdon, who successfully defended his Faldo Series title last month, is one of 12 players called up.
They will attend training and assessment sessions at Woodhall Spa, the English Golf Union's headquarters, over the winter.
*FRILFORD finished a creditable eighth in the English final of the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Championships at Woburn.
They were 24 shots behind winners Worthing, who will now take on the Scottish, Welsh and Irish Champions at La Manga.
*FORMER Oxfordshire cricket captain Phil Garner showed his golfing prowess to help his team win the Five Star Masters at Huntercombe.
Garner, Allan Cox and David Wilding claimed the title on countback after finishing on 80 points in the charity event.
Sponsor Colin Pike's team were second, two ahead of Mike Redmond's side, who won last year.
Another sponsor Clive Alcock, of Home Comforts, included TV presenter Steve Rider in his team, but could not get among the prizes.
Nearest the pin awards went to Brian Summerfield, Simon Alcock, Mike Redmond and Alan McKechnie.
Five Star end the year with the Tony Buck Celebrity Day at Frilford Heath on December 1 where their 2006 celebrity Martin Keown will play.
