Two men proved better than three for St James A as they defeated Rutherford 7-3 in Division 1.
With a full team, St James lost 6-4 to Vikings A despite a hard-fought maximum from Andy Misseldine.
But Misseldine and Brian Hamilton more than made up for having no third teammate against Rutherford with unstoppable displays in the singles and doubles.
Rutherford's gloom continued as they lost 8-2 to Morris Motors B.
Chris Lansley set the trend for Motors with a maximum that included coming back from two games down to beat Neil Hurford.
In Division 2, Forum D inflicted the first defeat of the season on Forum E. Forum D's Terry Ruane beat Neil Hughes in the opener.
Forum E youngster Ross Henderson came within a whisker of a win as all his sets went the full distance.
Forum D went on to further successes, beating Vikings C 8-2.
Alasdair McPherson, and new Forum player Harry Yeates, both hit maximums.
Gladiators look to have kick started their season with a thumping 9-1 win over Haddenham A as Kevin Giles and Dave Gardner got their first maximums.
Witney A went top of Division 3 after battling out a tough draw with Begbroke B and toppling early front runners Morris Motors C.
Jim Steele starred for Witney in the Motor's win. His maximum included an impressive victory over Paul Reynolds by 15-13 in the fourth game.
Maurice Chambers also gave Reynolds a good challenge, but lost 14-12 in the fourth then 11-6 in the fifth.
Bicester C kept in the chase with a 7-3 win over Begbroke B, thanks to Geoff Loder's third successive maximum.
In Division 4, St James B and Vikings D both recorded big wins to keep them vying for the top spot.
With three sets for Brian Dobson and two for Ewan Shearer, Holton held Morris Motors D to a draw.
