Division 2 basement boys Thame sprang a massive shock with a 5-0 win at home to Division 1 leaders Abingdon Conservative Club in the Gentworks Oxford & District League’s Stephen Reiss Cup first round.
Tom Fletcher (+80) set the ball rolling for Thame with a 150-125 win over Les Pratley (+80) in the opener.
Brendan Ensoll (+100) then swept aside Gorden Cook (+50) 150-81, before Paul Evans (+20) sealed the upset with a 200-144 beating of Matty Bramall (+30).
Nigel Bossom (-10) shone in New Club’s 5-0 home win over Cowley Conservative Club B.
He reeled off breaks of 41 and 36 in a 200-173 victory over Brian Mabbutt (+30).
David White (+40) then beat Ken Olive (+80) 200-178, and Allan King (+10) edged past Neil Kirby (+70) 200-193.
