Rover Oxford suffered their first defeat of the season when they slipped to a 1-0 loss at Harrow on Saturday - to lose top spot in Women's South League.
Rover created plenty of chances in the opening period, but the closest they came to finding the net was when Carolyn Brebner's effort was scrambled off the line.
The visitors continued to dominate after half-time, but could still not find their finishing touch.
And against the run of play, Harrow scored a breakaway goal to take the lead.
Rover hit back, but once again their finishing was off target and they slip to second on goal difference.
They face a table-top battle this week when Havant come to Iffley Road (12).
Oxford Hawks' recent good run was ended by a 2-0 defeat at Southgate.
Both teams were promoted last season and had made decent starts to this campaign, level on points in third place.
The game got off to a frantic start, with the home side just shading possession and creating the better opportunities.
Good skills from the Southgate forwards resulted in a string of short corners.
Yet the opening goal came in open play with a good finish into the far corner of Kate Filochowski's goal.
Hawks then suffered a big blow when they lost star striker Emma Batten through a knee injury.
Despite creating a number of chances and short corners, Hawks were unable to score and Southgate held their lead until half-time.
The Londoners' forward line was relentless after the break, but Jill Ireland calmly controlled the defence, while Anna Sargent marked her opposite number out of the game.
With time running out, Hawks pushed forward looking for the equaliser, but Southgate caught them on the break for goal No 2.
