Gerald Stratford will be writing a monthly angling article for the Oxford Mail.
A local angler with 60 years’ experience, he has an intimate knowledge off all aspects of the sport and has been a tackle consultant for 15 years.
His personal best fish includes roach and rudd to 2.12.0, perch to 3.2.0, chub to 6.10.0, barbel to 8.4.0, tench to 9.12.0, bream to 12.0.0, carp to 43.12.0 and a European catfish of 110lb.
From the sea, Gerald has caught cod to 16lb, pollack to 14lb and bass to 8.4.0, while his best trout are a brown of 16.0.0 and a rainbow of 22.1.0.
Modestly, Gerald says: “What this profile will not tell you is how many times I have blanked!”
The first of his articles appears today.
