CHIPPING Norton became the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League KO Cup champions after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Burford in the final at Buckingham.
A tale of comebacks from both teams ensured a tight finish.
In the top game Chippy's Shaun Kench and Will Preece were two down with four holes to play against Dave Summers and Michael Potts.
But they but finished strongly, winning three holes in a row before a par on the last gave them a one-hole victory.
Burford’s duo of Donny Henderson-Sowerby and John Wilks levelled the match, proving too strong for Chipping Norton’s Matt Johnson and Chris Dyer, coming away with a 3 & 2 win.
It all depended on the final match, where Chippy's pairing of Andy Johnson and Stu Allen found themselves two up with four to play.
But they were pegged back by the gritty Burford pairing of Adam Salter and Bret Gaertner.
With the match all square down the last, Johnson held his nerve to hole a five-foot putt to win the game and clinch the cup for Chipping Norton.
