Oxford Cheetahs co-promoter Aaron Lanney has revealed he had no choice but to sell his financial interest in the club to Colin Horton.
He said: "The Elite League will be more competitive than ever next season and there are some big money people taking over clubs. I cannot compete with them.
"These people are joining the sport with one thing in mind, that's instant success, but they also know they'll have to pay for the best riders and I couldn't do that."
Meanwhile, world champion Jason Crump is to appear in the popular BBC1 quiz programme 'A Question of Sport'.
He will be in Ally McCoist's team alongside Great Britain Rugby League star Paul Sculthorpe.
In opposition are Matt Dawson, England's Ashes-winning cricket captain Michael Vaughan and ex-footballer Gary McAllister.
The programme will be broadcast on Friday, November 24, at 7.00pm.
