Chequers Inn A and George Bar will meet in the Greene King ODDA Winter League men’s seven-a-side final after coming through the quarter and semi-finals at Marston Royal British Legion.
George just got the better of Headington RBL in the quarter-finals, while Cowley Workers defeated Peach-croft SC, Chequers saw off Goodlake Arms A and Three Horseshoes defeated Rose Hill CC.
In the semi-finals, Chequers Raced into a 3-0 lead against Section 1 champions Cowley Workers thanks to Pete Hall, Jon Jukes and John Russell.
Workers pulled one back when Phil Cook defeated Phil Addison, before Aaran Stevens booked Chequers’ place in the final The other semi-final was a real cliffhanger as the George Bar took on Three Horseshoes.
Alan Eckart put Shoes ahead, the George hitting back via Andy Buckingham, Carl Pitson and John Cole.
Paul Bustin and Nigel Hodge made it 3-3 and in a thrilling last game, George’s Jimmy Oram just got the better of Alan Stimpson to book a place on finals night at Rover SC on Friday, November 16.
