Flanker Dale Cross’s late try earned Abingdon a 12-7 victory at Didcot in their BB&O Championship derby on Saturday.

Abingdon hooker Lee Taylor forced his way over for the opening try after a great break from captain and scrum half Ollie Young.

Fly half Mark Roberts’s conversion gave Abingdon a 7-0 half-time lead.

Didcot thought they had earned a draw thanks to a try from former Abingdon No 8 Ronnie Booth, converted by Paul Costello.

But Cross sneaked over in the corner with four minutes left after a good passing move.

Chipping Norton earned a 20-17 victory at Gosford All Blacks in the BB&O Premier Division.

Gosford prop Callum Thompson was bundled over for the opening try, Tim Ellis converting.

Scrum half Matty Taylor replied with a try converted by Barry Nutt and No 8 Matt Dawson’s score put Chippy 12-7 ahead.

Gosford’s Tommy Newell sprinted in for their second before he and Taylor were sin-binned.

George Wilkinson’s try and Nutt’s penalty made it 20-12 before Harry Sutton’s score earned Gosford a losing bonus point.

A well-drilled Harwell side defeated visiting Bicester 39-12.

Two tries apiece from full back Jack Robinson and centre James Cantwell, plus a Robinson conversion, put Harwell 22-0 ahead at half-time.

Bicester improved after the break, with No 8 Dan Spencer’s try converted by Tom Bass.

Flanker Niall Morrow also notched for Bicester, but Cantwell completed his hat-trick and Sam Froud Davis also went over.

Robinson added two conversions and a penalty.
