Leaders Henley Hawks ran in 13 tries to win 85-3 at bottom club Barking in National 2 South, but were still not satisfied.

Hawks’ director of rugby Mike Poulson slated their poor handing and passing, which meant a 100-point plus score went begging.

Barking took the lead with a penalty from fly half James Ratford, but Henley roared back with tries from wings Liam O’Neill and Xavier Andre, plus centre Danny Wells.

Fly half James Comben converted all three and landed ten during the match.

Full back Neil Baggett’s 50-metre break and Wells’s pass saw centre Martin Nutt grab try No 4, while lively scrum half Jack Shaylor added a fifth to lead 33-3 at the break.

Flanker Matt Payne was next to score after some dominant forward play then front-row replacements James Hadfield and Alex Penny got in on the act.

Penny crashed through for a brace and Hadfield burrowed over once.

Shaylor scored a superb solo effort himself before Penny bagged his second.

Lock Dave Clements, another replacement, also went over, with Baggett and Comben completing the 13-try tally.

Chinnor lost 22-8 at home to promotion-chasing Hartpury College.

While admitting Hartpury were deserving winners, Chinnor were highly crtical of referee Michael Cooper’s display.

A try from centre Alex Dancer put the visitors ahead after Chinnor failed to deal with a high ball in the wind.

Fly half James Cathcart then saw a penalty kick dissallowed, despite it appearing to be successful.

Chinnor prop Joe Winpenny and Hartpury flanker Ross Moriarty were yellow-carded for fighting on 27 minutes, although home fans felt the latter deserved a red card for a punch.

Cathcart landed a penalty on 32 minutes and Chinnor led 8-5 at the break.

Full back Henry Colver was hauled down just short of the line, but supporting prop Andy Berry went over.

Hartpury came out fired up, with No 8 Nathan Thomas barrelling over.

The visitors struck decisively with two tries from wing Ian Clark in ten minutes – al-though Chinnor felt the first featured three forward passes.

On the third occasion, the assistant referee appeared to be repeatedly, but vainly conveying this to Cooper.
