When AFC Hinksey led Henley Town 1-0 at half-time thanks to an own goal from the visitors’ captain Chris Appleby, few would have guessed that the scoreline in this Uhlsport Hellenic Division 1 East game would be 8-0.
But there was there was a flood of goals after the break thanks to Toby Webster (2), Kieran Davis, Alex Fasoranti, Anaclet Odihambo, Nigel Swafford and Jelroy Constant.
Headington Amateurs remain in second place, but are now only four points behind Rayners Lane following a 3-1 win at Thatcham Town Res. Jay Hill, Luke Cuff and Tom Payne were the scorers for the Amateurs, with Lee Hamilton replying.
Easington Sports moved into third place with a 2-1 defeat of Didcot Town Res.
Andrew Stidder and Carl Standen scored the goals for Easington, with Tom Gooding netting for Didcot.
Letcombe put up a battling display, losing only 4-2 to Division 1 West leaders Brimscombe & Thrupp, despite goals from Alex Bruce and subsitute Simon Carter.
Brimscombe’s scorers were Michael Beckingham, Matt Green, Lee Pritchard and Ben Procter.
Hook Norton beat Clanfield 3-2 with two goals from Ben Tew and one from Sam Grant. Ben Williams netted both for Clanfield.
