Phil Adams won an 11th title as the Oxford & District League season drew to a thrilling close.
A packed crowd at Oxford Sports & Social Club saw some sensational throwing, with no fewer than six maximums over the course of the night.
Adams clanged off five dolls in the first leg of his Oxford Singles final with Kevin Baker, but after his rival levelled, three out of three in the shoot-out put Adams ahead.
Baker, who had lost each of the four finals he had contested before this, then set six in the second leg, but Adams matched him – and again won the shoot-out to claim his 11th title.
Adams and Baker then teamed up to beat Paul Townsend and Kevin Giles (Three Pigeons) in the Oxford Pairs final.
An Adams six gave the Cricketers pair the opening leg, and they sealed victory after a thrilling second leg that went to a three-stick and one-stick shoot-out and could only be resolved when it went back to six sticks.
John Lucin (Donnington Club C) won the Ted Houghton Supplementary singles final with a 2-1 victory over Pete Sellar (Crown Chalgrove).
Sellar then teamed up with Mathew Arnold to win the Lower Pairs final 2-0 against the Bullnose Morris pairing of Frank Howlett & Paul Sims.
The Greene King Team Cup went to Cricketers after a 2-0 win over Three Pigeons in a high-scoring affair.
Despite a six from Kevin Giles, Pigeons’ 29 was not enough in the opening leg, and 30 from Cricketers clinched the second.
In the Under 18’s final, 15-year-old Elliot Greenough, of Original Swan, beat Florence Park’s Jake Carter, hitting a six on his way to a third title.
Den and Pete Sellar successfully retained the Parent & Child Trophy, coming from behind to beat Barry and James Gilding from New Club.
The Gildings won the first leg 7-6, lost the next 5-4 and set six in the decider.
Pete Sellar hit four, leaving father Den to whip off the three dolls needed to win the title.
Six Bells Kidlington had a comfortable 2-0 win over Team Monarch, in the Monty Greenaway Fours final, Pete Rampton hitting a six.
