An Oxfordshire rowing club has seen some major wins in the last few weeks across categories, including a major head race in US.
Wallingford Rowing Club has been picking up wins across its teams, which includes 350 members across the junior, senior and masters’ teams.
It also includes Anne Grainger, an American-born rower who’s won two Olympic silver medals, and travelled to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the Head of the Charles race.

She brought home the title of woman’s single grand veteran, in the same boat she raced in the Olympics in 1988 and 1992.
Geoff Brown, Wallingford Rowing Club captain, said: “Wallingford RC is a friendly community rowing club that punches above its size.
“Our members include Olympians, World Champions, Henley winners and those who just like to potter up and down the longest stretch of the Upper Thames.”

Over the weekend, the club’s Great Britain under 19s went to a 5km time trial in Lincolnshire, in which five Wallingford girls placed in the top 50 and the club came out as the best placed non-school club.

Mr Brown said: “These are very promising results with a number hopeful of progressing at the nextWallingford RC also raced at Gloucester Autumn Head in October, with over 50 crews entered ranging from the youngest team of under 15s, to the master’s 40-64 -year-old category, where they picked up 12 wins.
