England's run to the final of the European Championships appears to have inspired a new generation of footballers in Oxford.

There was a 700 per cent rise in online searches for the phrase "football training near me" and 168 related keywords in the city following the tournament, research by Harlow Leisurezone has revealed.

Across the nation, these search terms saw a rise of 16.6 per cent, climbing from an average of 8,720 searches per month to 10,170.

The rise seen in Oxford was significantly higher than anywhere else in the South East, with Brighton, with an increase of 225 per cent, coming next on the list and Canterbury and Winchester both witnessing a rise of 150 per cent.

Other South East locations to see a significant surge include Maidstone, Milton Keynes and Reading.
