A CHRISTMAS recycling campaign run by Cherwell District Council won an award for the Best Information Technology and Communication Initiative at the annual Association of Public Service Excellence awards.
Last year’s recycling campaign – A Rubbish Guide to Christmas – used an advent calendar on Facebook to help people learn more about which bins certain pieces of rubbish should be placed in.
It reached more than 160,000 people and increased recycling rates by 11 per cent.
Cherwell was shortlisted for the award alongside six other authorities, winning a trophy and certificate.
It was handed the award on Thursday at a ceremony in Nottingham’s Ice Arena.
