A DECISION to reject two plans for 160 homes in Bloxham has been welcomed by the parish council.
Cherwell District Council rejected plans for 75 homes in Barford Road and 85 in Milton Road.
Bloxham Parish Council chairman Dave Chapman said: “What characterises Bloxham, particularly the centre of the village and its medieval heart, is the variety and diversity of the housing.
“To construct large urban housing estates onto the edge of the village and at the gateways that form entrance points is to destroy the special nature of our village.”
The parish council is drawing up a neighbourhood development plan to set out how villagers want Bloxham to develop, he said.
This is a legal document the district council would have to take into account when making planning decisions.
The parish council’s concern included the impact on flooding and other recent development in the village.
