An Oxfordshire school has been recognised with an award for the mental health support its provides its pupils.
The Unicorn School in Abingdon has received a gold standard award for its mental health and wellbeing provision.
The special education school, which supports children with neurodiversity, was recognised for its work by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools.
Assistant headteacher Alexandra Foster said: “Mental health and wellbeing is at the heart of the school. We focus not only on how mental health impacts our pupils but also families and staff.
“Achieving this award recognises the school’s commitment to improving the lives of all the children in our care.”

The centre, which is part of Leeds Beckett University, judged the award on categories including, leadership and strategy; support for staff, pupils and carers; staff professional development and learning and working with external services.
The school on Marcham Road supports pupils aged between eight and 16 with various forms of neurodiversity including dyslexia, autism, dyspraxia and associated learning difficulties.
It has been running for 31 years and employs 55 members of staff to support 108 pupils.
