Christmas might be over, but the Spirit lives on. Don't fall into the typical paucity of diet and detox after the holidays! January and February are bad enough with out starving yourself of a little libation.
Instead treat yourself to something a bit special and different. . . . and most importantly something that won't break the bank when you're recovering from the overspend. Pick up a Bellow's Rock Pinotage when your shopping for the fam for the week.
Now to be fair I wasn't expecting much. I have been worn out by South African Pinotages that are using the great exchange rate to promote less than quality wines. I decided that leftovers of turkey dinner would be suitable enough to try this new South African vino. I opened the bottle, poured everyone a glass, and carried on the conversation as normal.
Then it hit me. My first sip was washing down a morsel of meat. The flavour was exquisite. So much so I had to stop eating and actually write down proper tasting notes.
It's a medium ruby coloured wine with fabulous cherry flavours. The acid punches through subtly and excites the mouth into watering. Hints of vanilla follow, finishing in a delicious tannic chocolate.
It's much fuller than most pinotages and is a complete steal for £3.99 at Costco. Trust me. . . get some and it will carry your through the cold winter weather.
If you still have a few gifts to buy, don't forget to check out the Spirit of Christmas list. Bottom's Up!
