A gift from a colleague turned into a delicious treat!
Sunday evening while I was working my husband decided to surprise me and celebrate the summer solstice with a barbecue and dinner outside. What could be better to enjoy the splendid weather we have been having in Oxford?
He scanned my rack and pulled out a white because of the attractive label. It was the McGuigan Pinot Grigio 2008 that a Kate Sarginson sent me the previous week.
What a treat! I was poured a well chilled glass while grilling the steaks. I know red meat, white wine, not the done thing, but standing over the hot grill in the heat of the evening watching the sunset, I couldn't imagine drinking a red.
This white is refreshing, vibrant and slightly off dry. It has tropical fruit flavours which give the impression that it's sweet. However, the tang prevents it from being honeyed and carries through for a zesty lasting finish.
You should start seeing this in your local grocery stores for £6-£8. Although I'm having trouble finding it online, so if any one knows where I can pick up another bottle, drop me an email and I'll post it.
