Wine competition details from the Oxford Mail, printed 30.04.09 South Africa’s coming to Oxford!
The Wines of South Africa are launching their Great South African Wine Trail the 15th of May, and will be turning Gloucester Green into a South African Garden.
Visit them from 11am -8pm and you can walk amongst the fynbos garden, talk to wine experts all while sampling a variety of South African ‘eco-friendly’ wines.
While there you’ll get a chance to taste a Spier Private Collection Shiraz. It eminates lovely toasted marshmellow aromas with hints of vanilla, nutmeg and peach. The flavour still has the bold fruit that Shiraz stakes its reputation on, but it is smoother and more sophisticated, reminiscent of a French Rhone.
To celebrate the Wine Trail starting its journey in Oxford, the Wines of South Africa are giving away a private tasting with a winemaker for one lucky person and five friends.
The winner and his/her friends will get access to the top of the Wine Trail bus which has been set up for private VIP parties.
You can taste luscious wines, feed on sumptuous nibbles and experts will be on hand to take you through the vinos and show you some secrets about tasting these treats.
