In the wise words of Michelle Obama: “If my future were determined just by my performance on a standardized test, I wouldn’t be here. I guarantee you that.”
Exams. The epitome of every teenager in the world. Exams is all about having the right mindset for success. Unfortunately, a piece of paper doesn’t show who you are or what your talents are outside of some equations on a stapled piece of paper. The daunting exam hall where everyone is nervous for their results and what is about to uphold their future, their plan for life.
“It always seems impossible until it’s done” – Nelson Mandela.
Revision. Repetition is the art of learning, but finding the revision method that works for you is even harder than revision itself. Flashcards, reading over notes, videos, mind maps… The list goes on for how many different methods there are out there. If you have no idea how to revise you can find yourself in a maze with no exit!
“The best teachers are those who show you where to look but don’t tell you what to see.”
- Alexandra K. Trenfor.
Society’s unsung heroes. These are the people who taught us how to read, write, count, add, subtract and the list goes on. Teachers are the people who guide us through our exams, support us, empathize with us and so much more. We sometimes might dislike our teachers and their actions but all they have is our best interest at heart.
Exams may not define who we are as individuals but the process behind them is more than questions on paper, it is the blood, sweat and tears that goes into them. It’s the process that we’ve trusted all these years to pay off.
“Your exam results do not define you as a person or predict your future.” – Laura Henry.
