It's A tough job, but someone's got to do it. This week, I had to do a bit of crucial research for Oxford - finding the hottest blokes in Oxford's bike shops.
I decided to get a crack-squad together to trawl through the various bike shops around town and try and decide on our favourite guys. First off we checked out The Bike workshop in Magdalen Road, always popular for various reasons, but always packed full of fit young men.
No disappointment here - like being locked in a sweet shop! Added advantage here is that you can go in any time and pump up the tyres on your bike. They're also always smiling and friendly. So remember, flutter those eyelashes, girls!
Interestingly, a friend is always coming up with excuses to go to Reg Taylor's bike shop in Iffley Road to see the young, silent hunky bike man.
She's always coming up with new and varying excuses to keep going back, such as "the tyres are the wrong shape, they need changing" and even going so far as wanting to cycle through broken glass.
Blimey, as I write this, rumours have literally just come in about cute guys in Cycloanalyst along Cowley Road, so it's off in the Anneka Rice outfits to check out 'the talent'. As always, not bad, but if you're into sophistication, there's no-one as charming as Naz the owner - maybe slightly more mature, but very dashing in the James Bond sense.
Then we're off again, getting a few stares in our pale blue lycra and blonde wigs (we don't want to reveal our identities) down to Beeline Bikes where one friend admits a fondness for the guy with the ponytail (he is a sweetie).
Heck, if only we had the guts to ask these guys to model cycling shorts for us?
After a time, we jog off again, stopping traffic on The Plain and racing each other to get to Bike Zone in Market Street. It's small but perfectly formed and there we found a chiselled jawed blonde guy who looked like an ex film actor (the name of whom escapes me) - again he's more mature, but perhaps the gears on my bike need an oh-so-slight adjustment . . .
But there's no rest for the wicked - so we sent a friend of ours off to her favourite bike shop in Walton Street where she claims ALL the guys are cute (indeed, I'm mortified that I didn't visit this one myself).
And while she drools in Jericho, we dash off to Warlands bike shop in Botley Road, with its handsome bike man who scores points by also having a sexy accent - swoooooooooooon. But before I get carried away, I mustn't forget to mention some of Oxford's most delicious guys - the men on the Oxcarts rickshaws.
It's worth paying all your 'readies' to have them cycle you around town, just so you can admire the view'.
Summarising, any of these places are worth getting your bike fixed in, and then fixed again and again.
But remember, they might be eye candy, but they're not worth a damn if they don't love your bike like you do!
And before I get any letters about sex equality, I apologise, but I didn't see any women working in bike shops so clearly here's a job for girls to get into . . .
