A NURSERY has been rated 'requires improvement' after its first Ofsted inspection.
Oxford's British Orchard Nursery in Wheatley was given the regulator's second-lowest rating, due to 'variable' teaching quality and ' missed opportunities to challenge and extend learning.'
The 29-child nursery, which opened in 2018, was inspected on August 7.
Ofsted did note some positives, stating: "Staff are kind and caring with children and give them regular cuddles and praise.
"This ensures that children form secure bonds with the adults who care for them, settle well and develop good levels of self-confidence.
"Staff supervise children carefully and the manager ensures that the required adult-to-child ratios are always maintained."
