RESIDENTS in South Oxfordshire are celebrating after the opening of a new play area.
Little Milton's new park is situated in the heart of the village.
Former councillor and project leader Mrs Elizabeth Swabey-Collison opened the state of the art facility earlier this month.
The opening was the result of months of work by the Parish Council, and £100,000 of funding from a Community Action Fund and South Oxfordshire District Council’s South Capital Grant.
Speaking at the launch, Chairman of Little Milton Parish Council Barry Coward said: “We are delighted that our new play area is now open. The previous play area was very popular but the new area is larger, easy-access and provides a much-improved facility for a wider range of ages.
"Sited adjacent to our village shop, post office and coffee shop, and with seating for adults within the play area, we hope it will prove a popular venue for parents, grandparents, and children alike. We are very grateful to both SODC and WREN for their generous grant funding which has made the project a reality.”
Councillor Lynn Lloyd, the local cabinet member for community services said: “This play area is exactly the kind of community project that South Oxfordshire District Council is proud to support through our grant funding programme. We are pleased that the play area is open now so the people of Little Milton can enjoy it for the summer and for many years to come.”
