WALLINGFORD Museum has urged people to visit before its annual winter closure in December, January and February.

Museum staff will use the months to prepare new exhibitions for 2018 and reopen on March 1.

And for one of those exhibitions, it has asked for the public’s help.

In its Treasures with Tales show next year, the museum will be telling the personal stories behind everyday objects donated by residents.

Museum curator Judy Dewey said: “Most of us keep a few treasured items, not necessarily because they are ‘valuable’ but because they have a special significance.

“Often they are very simple things – like an ornament, souvenir, letter or picture – but each has some sort of memorable story behind it.

“Wallingford Museum is asking if you would share one or more of your Treasures with Tales to help create a very special exhibition for 2018.”

Send ‘treasures’ to Wallingford Museum, 52 High Street, OX10 0DB, email admin@wallingfordmuseum.org.uk or phone 01491 651127.

In the meantime, book-lovers and present-seekers have been reminded the museum’s bookstall will remain open over the winter every Friday from 10.30am to 3pm and every Saturday from 10.30am to 1pm. See wallingfordmuseum.org.uk
