A NEW nursery will soon open for families in one of Oxfordshire’s newest villages.

Plans have been approved for a temporary building to house the nursery for up to ten years at Upper Hayford development near Bicester.

The nursery will form part of the housing development being created at the former RAF base which eventually will contain more than 1,000 homes.

Cherwell District council planning committee chairman David Hughes said: “Now that families can request up to 600 free hours a year at the nursery, we have to make sure that there are enough facilities to cover the growing demand.

“This is indeed a much needed amenity for the rapidly expanding residential area of Upper Heyford and we would rather provide it sooner on a temporary basis.

“We will then identify the best site for a permanent building when the Heyford Park development is completed.”

The nursery will be built alongside a car park of up to 16 parking spaces plus a path linking through across Camp Road.
