A POPULAR Oxford Etsy seller will be opening their first ever pop-up shop in Bury Street, Abingdon on Saturday.
Christina O'Hare, who runs Christina Made It, an online shop selling handmade minimal silver and gold jewellery, will be selling her items in the town centre until December 17.
It comes after the Vale of White Horse District Council launched Independent Shops Project - a scheme which helps small businesses to fill empty units in the town by creating pop-up shops. It also allows retailers to rent premises on a temporary basis to ‘test the waters’ before committing to a permanent location in the town.
Councillor Mike Murray, Cabinet member for economic development said: “The project is already having a positive impact to the town centre and we welcome the Oxford Etsy Team and wish them every success for the future.”
Ms O'Hare said, “I set up the Oxford Etsy Team and following on from such a great response, I soon realised there was a high demand for a retail outlet.
“I contacted Iain who helped me enormously by explaining the process and putting us in contact with the landlords. Everything has happened really quickly since signing the lease and we’ve been really grateful to our members who have donated pieces of furniture and display equipment for our new venture.”
