NOMINATIONS for the 'Oscars of Didcot' have been announced.

Residents, businesses, charities and community groups are poised to discover who will be triumphant at this year’s Business & Community Awards (B&CAs) at a ceremony on Friday November 10.

Competing in categories such as best fundraising campaign, best new business and best volunteering initiative, 26 organisations have been shortlisted across 11 categories.

Lucky winners of the 11 awards will each receive a trophy, certificate and a £100 donation towards their organisation or charity of their choice.

Sarah Hopgood, from Didcot First , who organise the awards, said: “The BACAs, now in its 9th year, celebrates success in and around the South Oxfordshire area.

"We received a fantastic response from the local community with a record number of nominations made.”

The awards ceremony will take place at the Cornerstone, Didcot.

High Sheriff of Oxfordshire Jane Cranston and the Mayor of Didcot Jackie Billington will present the awards.

During the event, the presentations will be interspersed with talented acts including Didcot Community Gospel Choir, local Harpist Jenny Vereker and award-winning Didcot based drama company – Phoenix.

The awards evening is sponsored by Taylor Wimpey.
