AN INDEPENDENT city sixth form has said it is ‘delighted’ to welcome a new principal.

Mark Love joined Oxford Tutorial College in November, having spent 12 years in principal roles across three colleges in London.

He has more than 26 years’ experience in the education sector, having served as a senior tutor, governor, vice principal and teacher.

He was educated at university in Bristol and lived and worked in the USA before returning to the UK to embark on a career in teaching.

In a statement the college said: “Mark has established a career in helping students progress to top UK universities and is committed to ensuring that students find the best possible university for their individual needs and aspirations.

“It is an exciting time for the College, celebrating excellent results this summer across BTEC – 94 per cent of students achieved Distinction or Distinction* – and A-Level.

“This was followed by a very positive Ofsted report, which praised the ‘ambitious leadership’ of the senior staff, as well as quality teaching.”

Mr Love said: “The excellent results and the whole range of flexible, tremendous, individualised courses at Oxford Tutorial College provide me with great excitement as I go forward into this position.

“My eldest daughter has just started her A-Levels and my youngest daughter has just started her GCSEs, so I very much – as a parent, as well as a principal – understand what students have to go through to achieve success.” The college will hold an open evening on Thursday, November 16.
