LEARN how to save someone's life at a CPR and defibrillator training day in Abingdon.

The event is being held by Abingdon Area Community First Responders, who will be supported on the day by South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

It will take place on Thursday, November 16 in The Upper Room at Christ Church, Northcourt Road, Abingdon.

Two sessions will run at 1pm and 7pm with a maximum of 20 people at each session.

Each session will last approximately one and a half hours and will give people the opportunity to learn how to use a public access defibrillator and how to do CPR.

There will be no charge, but donations to Abingdon Area Community Responders will be appreciated.

Community First Responders (CFRs) are volunteers that come from all walks of life and are trained and dispatched by UK ambulance services.

They provide essential life-saving treatment and support in those crucial minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.

This includes responding to patients suffering a life threatening emergency such as a cardiac arrest, stroke or breathing problems.

There are 1,300 CFRs currently working with the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

It is expected that this will be a popular event so entry is by advance booking only.

Bookings can be made by emailing abingdoncfr@sca-charity.org.uk or calling 07815 942458.

Successful bookings will be confirmed.
