AN OXFORDSHIRE charity has been part of a global study to decode the family risk of breast cancer.

Abingdon-based Against Breast Cancer was part of research that saw DNA samples taken from hundreds of thousands of people worldwide and these results have been analysed to compare the genes of women with and without breast cancer.

The research has helped to identify more genetic mutations which lead women to have a higher risk of developing breast cancer.

The findings may lead to improved screening, earlier detection and better treatments against breast cancer, which is the most common form of cancer in women.
