STUDENTS at the Oxford Union will tonight listen to a debate on the nation’s security.
The motion at the world-famous debating chamber in St Michael’s Street is ‘This House Believes We Have Sacrificed Our Liberty for a False Promise of Security’.
Speaking in favour of the motion will be Secretary Jeh Johnson, US Secretary of Homeland Security under President Barack Obama, and Anthony Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union since 2001.
Speaking in opposition will be Bernard Cazeneuve, a former Prime Minister of France, and Avril Haines, former deputy director of the CIA.
The debate starts at 8.30pm.
