A FOREST of festive trees sporting Easter eggs will sprout at a care home.

Bridge House Care Home in Abingdon will welcome schoolchildren and Brownies on Sunday for a crafting challenge.

They will make a miniature tree using twigs and branches, hung with tiny hand-decorated eggs, to enter into a contest.

Members of the public are welcome to join the competition from 3pm at the home in Thames View.

Bridge House manager June Maharaj said: “We are planning to display the forest of Easter egg trees in our indoor and outdoor garden, weather permitting.

“Everyone attending will be able to vote for their favourite tree.”

She encouraged people to pop in and join the fun, adding: “Everyone is welcome to come and enter a tree if they would like to - the more the merrier.”

Entrants will be gifted with baskets of Easter treats, with the winner taking home a £100 prize.

The care home will provide eggs and decorating kids to participants, including members of Abingdon All Saints Brownies, Drayton Pre School and Our Lady’s Abingdon junior school.

Staff will set up a tree decorating station at the home’s restaurant so residents and their families can get involved.

The full day of activities will also include an egg hunt and the chance to meet the home’s resident rabbits Sandy and Snowy.
