AN accomplished climber will retell tales of adventure at a talk in Abingdon.

Internationally celebrated mountaineer Stephen Venables will inspire an audience at Abingdon School on Thursday.

He made history in 1988 when he became the first Briton to reach the summit of Mount Everest without supplementary oxygen.

His speech at the Amey Theatre at 7.30pm promises breathtaking photography and an insight into the first stages of his career.

Tickets cost £12.50 and can be booked by visiting horizonlectures.co.uk/stephenvenables.
