ENVIRONMENTAL issues will be tackled in Barton as part if a project to clean up the area.

Over the next two weeks, a clean and green campaign created by Oxford City Council will be rolled out on the estate.

It aims to engage with residents and tenants to educate them on environmental issues through education and enforcement.

The council will also ask members of the community what they think the main recycling and waste issues are on the estate.

Councillor John Tanner, board member for a Clean and Green Oxford, said: "The city council is determined to make Oxford a clean and green place for and everyone.

"By concentrating efforts in one area for a fortnight we can make a tangible difference to the quality of life of those who live there.

"The city council wants to work with local residents to make Barton spick and span and an even better place to live. We want people not to drop litter, not to allow their dogs to foul the area and to become the best recyclers in Oxford."
