A CONSULTANT orthopaedic surgeon has launched a £100,000 fundraising appeal to deliver training to healthcare providers in Africa to help children suffering from the condition clubfoot.
The condition leaves children with a deformed foot at birth and more than 30,000 children in Africa are affected each year.
Prof Chris Lavy, who is based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, and has worked to improve care for affected children in Africa for the past 20 years, said many ended up with severe deformities that made it hard for them to walk.
