THE dates have been set for next year's Flywheel festival in Bicester hot on the heels of this year's popular event.

Thousands of people flooded into the former bomber station this summer at Bicester Heritage along with hundreds of historic cars, aircraft and military vehicles.

A site that will be repeated on Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2, for a 'bigger and better' Flywheel 2017.

Event commercial director Richard Grafton said: "We were absolutely thrilled with the turnout at Flywheel 2016 and are delighted to be able to bring the event back for the third consecutive year.

"The event continues to grow and we are keen to ensure the programme is even more exciting than before, with something for all the family."

The theme for this year is being kept closely under wraps but last year included Sir Stirling Moss OBE signing autographs before being reunited with a host of his race-winning cars from the 1950s and 1960s.

Managing director Duncan Wiltshire said: "Support from the historic community for our previous events has been overwhelming and the calibre of vehicles that people have put around our demonstration track or opened up to public display has been exceptional.

"We look forward to working closely with enthusiasts to deliver an even bigger and better event in 2017."
