With the cost of living increasing and having an impact on household bills for electricity and gas, you might be wondering how you can reduce the use of appliances such as your oven or tumble dryer.

We all have washing to do and using both the washing machine and tumble dryer can easily add to the bills but there are hacks that people use to reduce energy use.

A TikTok user has shared one way she avoids using extra energy by changing the way she dries her washing in the winter.

When @chloedealsclub takes a load of wet laundry out of the washing machine, she puts it all on a clothes airer.

She makes it clear that her clothes airer isn’t a heated one, just a “normal one”.

In the video, she puts all the wet clothes on the airer and stands the airer next to a radiator.

When done, she takes a bed sheet and places it over the entire airer and tucks it in so it’s “like a tent”.

She says this means that when the heating is on, the clothes will be able to dry for “no extra cost”.

The video has racked up 2.4 million views since being posted and has amassed more than 47,000 likes.
