MORE than 500 Covid-19 cases were recorded in Oxfordshire over the weekend as the UK reported another 22,868 cases – the highest since January 30, according to daily Government figures.

In addition, official figures show that as of 4pm on Monday, a further 208 new coronavirus cases were registered in the county – the highest since January 27.

These come to 138 more than those recorded on Monday last week.

The rate of infection in Oxfordshire now stands at 5,225 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 7,350.

These are the daily cases separated by local authorities:
Oxford – 105
South Oxfordshire – 37
Cherwell – 29
West Oxfordshire – 13
Vale of White Horse – 24

The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:
Oxford – 10,331
Oxfordshire – 36,139

The UK has recorded a further three Covid-related deaths and 22,868 new cases with 227 patients admitted to hospital, Public Health England confirmed.
Cases identified through a positive lateral flow test – those which can deliver results within half an hour – will no longer be counted if the person then takes a PCR test, which is sent to a lab to be checked, and receives a negative result within three days.
