PUPILS at Chipping Norton School organised an open day in 1990 to show parents and friends what they did in their classrooms.

The school became a hive of activity, with gymnastic displays, drama, concerts, dance and craft demonstrations, scientific experiments, art shows, cookery, and plays, songs and poems in French and Spanish.

In our first picture, Jamie Buchanan, left, and Chris Swann demonstrate the art of bridge building.

The second undated picture shows pupils’ successful attempts to save aluminium by encouraging everyone to recycle drinks cans.

An African rhythm band visited The Theatre in 1990 and before its evening performance, held a half-term workshop for schoolchildren.

Nine-year-old John Taghavi is seen in the third picture accompanying orchestra member Nana Appiah.
