Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman had her necklace stolen from her in Banbury.
At about 11.30am on Saturday, the elderly woman was waiting for a bus at the bus stop in Bridge Street.
A woman approached her and took hold of her hand, placing two gold rings in it and telling her they were free. The victim said she didn’t want them and the woman then placed a necklace over her head.
The victim again said she didn’t want it and started to remove it. The woman then took the necklace off the victim, removing the victim’s own gold chain at the same time, before walking off.
The woman was white with dark, tanned skin, between 30 and 40-years-old, about 5ft 4in tall, and had a large build. She was wearing a brown headscarf with gold trim and a black skirt with flowers on it.
Anyone who witnessed the theft, recognises the description of the offender, or has any information which might help police with their enquiries should contact PC Stephen Perry via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.
If you don’t want to speak to police or leave your name, call the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
