TWO of Oxfordshire’s rivers remained on flood alert last night.
The Environment Agency’s warning indicated that flooding of roads and fields was possible – but homes were unlikely to be affected.
The River Thame, from Thame to Drayton St Leonard, was on flood alert, together with the Chalgrove Brook at Chalgrove and Stadhampton.
The River Ray, near Bicester, and its tributaries from Shipton Lee to Islip, was also on flood alert.
But the River Ock, from Watchfield, near Wantage, to Abingdon, is no longer considered a danger.
The agency was criticised after heavy rain flooded seven homes in Wendlebury, near Bicester, early on Thursday morning.
Staff issued a flood warning but not until six hours after the village was flooded.
Met Office spokesman Emma Sharples said there would only be light rain throughout the county today but the weather conditions would remain damp until the middle of the week. There could be frosts towards the end of the week.
