THIS was the junior football team that represented Headington Church of England School in 1928.
The only player we can name is Jack Edmund Gomm, on the extreme right in the front row.
He was born in 1916 or 1917 and was killed in July 1940 when his submarine, HMS Salmon, hit a mine off the Norwegian coast.
His name is inscribed on the war memorial at St Mary’s Church, Kidlington.
The photograph, sent in by Ken Marsland, of Freeborn Close, Kidlington, is believed to have been taken when the Gomm family were living at Headington.
Jack’s father, Edmund, known as Ned, was landlord of the Red Lion pub at Kidlington in the 1940s and 1950s.
Can anyone name any of the other players? Write and let me know.
