FAMOUS mountaineers will attend an event at Oxford University’s Museum of Natural History on November 13 to celebrate the ‘Sacred Mountain.’
The fundraising event will celebrate major triumphs and mountaineering firsts on Kangchenjunga, the world’s third highest mountain, which is especially sacred to the Himalayan people.
Celebrated climber Doug Scott, the first Briton to climb Everest, will be joined by Marko Prezelj of Slovenia and Russian Vasily Elagin to describe their epic exploits on the mountain.
Money from the event will be donated to the charity Community Action Nepal. An auction of mountain prints signed by Chris Bonington and other famous climbers will also be held.
Tickets for the event, which starts at 7pm, cost £15 from Blacks, in St Aldate’s, or by calling 01865 778536.
