A 52-YEAR-OLD man has been accused of molesting and spying on children at his former primary school in south Oxfordshire.
The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court yesterday on a total of 29 charges, including attacks on 10 young girls.
He is also facing accusations about possessing or taking indecent photographs plus also recording pupils changing into their PE clothes.
The former teacher faces 17 charges of sexual assault, seven of which relate to one girl from September 1, 2005 to July 31, 2006.
Another girl is the subject of two charges of sexual assault between September 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008 and September 1, 2009 to July 31, 2010.
The man is accused of sexually assaulting two other girls between September 1, 2004 and July 31, 2005.
He faces a charge of sexually assaulting a fifth girl between September 1, 2005 and July 31, 2006 and a sixth a year later. Between September 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009 he faces two more charges relating to two more girls respectively. That is replicated with two final charges covering the same months a year later with two more girls.
He is also charged with voyeurism by recording a private act between September 1, 2004, and July 31, 2005, with the intention of looking at the recording for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, while knowing that female pupils did not consent to his recording their acts.
The accusation is that he recorded female pupils changing into PE clothing from their uniform.
The final slew of charges relate to indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs – the legal term for digital images.
He faces one charge possessing photographs or pseudo-photographs, with the accusation he had 241 indecent images of children on five optical discs.
He is also charged with ten counts of taking indecent photos or pseudo photos of children, taken at various times in the Summer of 2006 - three on June 9, three on June 30 and one each on July 4, July 18, July 19, and July 20.
The hearing only lasted a few minutes.
The man, whose address is listed as being Bullingdon Prison near Bicester, was remanded in custody until he appears at Oxford Crown Court on Friday, November 9.
No orders restricting publication of details of the case were made, however neither his name nor the state school are being named by the Oxford Mail to protect the identities of the children.
